Australian man arrested in PNG
An Australian man has been arrested by authorities in Daru, Western Province, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Post Courier reports. According to police, a Richard Carl was arrested and detained at the Daru Police station after he wanted to fly out of Daru. It is reported that Carl is an alleged sex offender in his home country and is out on bail. However, he breached the conditions of his bail by illegally crossing the border near Torres Strait in his private yacht. Carl was charged by the Queensland Police Services (QPS) in Brisbane as a repeat child sex offender and released on bail on the condition that he would not travel out of Australia. He was apprehended last Thursday Port Moresby based intelligence unit with the assistance of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and QPS.
