PNG athletes get golden incentive

Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko
Papua New Guinean athletes have been given 20,000 reasons to win a gold at the XV Pacific Games in July, Post Courier reports.

Individual athletes who win gold will receive K20, 000 while those in teams will receive the same amount each.

Sports and Pacific Games Minister, Justin Tkatchenko, made the announcement that the government has allocated K5.7 million for gold winning performances as incentive for Team PNG.

Tkatchenko said the incentive was a sign that the government was revolutionizing sports in the country and that individuals who received their prize money should invest it in developing their skills and talents.
